Boozhoo*, I’m Paige, CEO + Owner of Blk Wlf Aesthetics

Black Wolf Aesthetics (makade-ma'iingan) is the almagam of my multiracial/ethnic heritage (Black and Indigenous) and culture and my desire to share it with you. As a black woman, black wolves resonate with me because in some cultures’ legend and lore, black wolves are often viewed as arrogant, selfish, etc (does this tired trope sound familiar?) ironically though, the wolf represents loyalty, intuition the unknown, and protection. Traits that are far more impactful. As an Indigenous woman, many clans within the Ojibwe nation believe the fate of the wolf and the fate of the Ojibwe are linked; should the wolf go, so too shall our people. The truth is black wolves are captivating because they are relatively rare. Only a small percentage of the gray wolf population carries the gene that causes melanism. More importantly, the wolf is also a symbol of guardianship, transformation and evolution.

After all, that’s why you’re here… to transform and evolve into a more confident version of yourself. I’m excited to help you do just that…

it all started on my 25th birthday…

the doctor said I was pre-diabetic, I couldn’t fit into the rides at Six Flags, & the dress I ordered for my b-day celebration didn’t fit. I had always struggled with my weight, but was in peak condition in high school & most of college. But after a life-altering experience resulting in me struggling emotionally, that’s when food turned into my comfort. It filled a void; it made me feel whole.

But my relationship with food was disordered & change was needed.

A week after my birthday, I started therapy. Within a year, I dropped 125+lbs through diet & exercise. However, four years later, I plateaued; bouncing between a 25lbs range. I tried keto, paleo, intermittent fasting, etc. to no avail. Then in 2019, I found a trainer on IG who happens to now be one of my best friends. She gave me all the tools but some people can’t be told and I happen to be one of them. It took two long years, but in 2021 I finally listened, stayed disciplined, & did the work.

In 2021, I decided that at some point I would compete as a personal challenge. Within six months, I lost 30lbs and dropped 5% body fat. And while I have to care about the number on the scale (#CompetitionLife) I’m more so focused on how I feel. And boo, here’s what it is: I’m feeling strong, confident, and hot AF. (walking Hercules Muse here)

Yes, I’ve lost weight but since starting this journey my mental strength, willpower, and discipline are A1! I feel rejuvenated; so much so that I’m pursuing my Advanced Practice Esthetician license, hold my NASM Personal Trainer certification, and I own a spray tan studio. All of which help people get one step closer to their personal and body aesthetic goals.
